Mustangs 16u Maguire- National Level Team
P.A.L.: Play Like a Champion. Act Like a Champion. Look like a Champion.
This team was established by Robbie Blankenship, who maintains the manager's role for the team. Originally coached by Jody Hennigar, the team built a solid record around a solid core of players. In 12u, they were the highest placed Florida team at ASA Nationals in Sacramento with a 7th place overall finish.
In their first year of 14u play, they qualified for and played at ASA Nationals in South Dakota with a top 20 finish. The following year, they qualified again and had a memorable summer, playing the TCS Colorado Sparkler Power Pool Championship game against a sister Tampa Mustang Team. They ventured to California after winning a Premier PGF Berth but fell short, finishing in the top 30.
Coach Hennigar departed for a collegiate coaching position. He and assistant coach Cortney Ratke are both coaching at the collegiate level.
2018 brought the first year of 16u for the team. They finished 4th at Triple Crown Nationals, and secured a PGF Championship! US Club Ranking placed them in the top 20 nationally at the end of the 2018 season.
The team is on a mission to prepare their players for Division I collegiate play, as almost every player is committed to a program or has offers from a program at that level of play. This fall, they announced the addition of veteran coach Kevin Maguire to the staff. Coach Maguire will focus on player development, as he has prepared many notable players for Division I softball.
