SOFTBALL |
Twenty Six years ago, only Little League slow-pitch softball was available for Tampa Bay area players. Then in 1981, Ray Seymour started a year-round team for girls 14 to 15 years old, naming the program Tampa Mustangs. To better showcase his players as college prospects, Seymour converted his entire program to fast-pitch in 1995, and in the past 25 years, over 200+ Mustangs have earned scholarships totaling over $2.5 million from 50+ different schools. A team in each age group - from 10U to 18U - has won a National Championship. In all, the program has won 21 National Championships, 5 National Runner-up trophies, 15 State Championships, and 1 International Title - 2001 16U ISF Junior Worlds Cup Champions. In the 2007 season, the Tampa Mustangs program has 9 teams from 10 under to 18 under. Money to operate the large program must be raised by the players and their parents. They wash cars, clean yards and solicit donations from businesses to meet the operating budget for the teams. Complete Story. EXPERIENCED PLAYERS NEEDED FOR UPCOMING SEASON 18U Holle Team.
